<image:title>Julie Seven Sage - Julie Seven Sage, 19, lives in Nashua, NH. She loves all science but is especially interested in astrophysics. Julie produces a YouTube channel, 7 Sage Labs, where she posts videos for her shows. Supernova Style Science News is where she shares interesting science news with everyone, THE STEAM SHOP where she reviews science-based toys/kits and shows how to make things, SciFacts where Julie shares quick facts about diverse topics, and Sage Lab Notes is her vlog that can cover any topic. Her goal is to increase interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math through her show and other various outreach activities. Her love of science started early, where at the age of 6 she told her parents that she wanted to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Stephen Hawking and Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson in studying black holes, exo-planets, quasars, etc.</image:title>

<image:title>Julie Seven Sage - In 2019, there were more great opportunities and achievements for Julie. She was asked to be a speaker at the Women In Space conference held at Arizona State University. Julie was also asked to be one of the presenters at a local school or their STEM Day event. Julie was on her high school’s Science Olympiad team. At the state competition her and her partner placed 3rd in Astronomy and 4th in the Mousetrap Vehicle competition.</image:title>

<image:title>Julie Seven Sage - Julie was asked to be a panelist at Satellite2020 in March of 2020 in Washington D.C. The panel she was to be a part of was Via Satellite's ON ORBIT Podcast LIVE!: Gen Z & Millennial Visions for Space. Unfortunately due to the outbreak of SARS-COV-2 (COVID19) her panel, along with all others scheduled that same day, were cancelled. She did get to attend a number of panels and the keynote event featuring Elon Musk. Julie was selected to ask Elon a question. Her question dealt with what can businesses and governments do to help the younger generation afford to go to college. Due to the cancellation of the panel at Satellite2020, On Orbit Podcast interviewed Julie in June about her experiences in being a young scientist in the world of today.</image:title>

<image:title>Julie Seven Sage - 2018 was a very busy year for Julie. It started early with Julie winning a spot on The Mars Generation's list for "24 Under 24 Leaders and Innovators in STEAM and Space Award". She also won 2nd place in the National Science Foundation's Generation Nano: Superheroes Inspired by Science comic contest. Julie, along with other Boston area high school students, was a part of the very first program of the MIT Media Lab's Climate CubeSat Co-Building Outreach Program (C3), where they worked on designing, building, and launching a cube sat. Julie was announced as the NH State Merit Winner for the Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge for her invention, the Sage Survival System. Along with her friends, Allie Weber, Taylor Richardson, and Jordan Reeves, she founded The STEAM Squad, a group of teenage scientists, STEM activists, makers, and inventors. They support and promote each other.</image:title>

<image:title>Julie Seven Sage - Again in 2020 Julie took part in the Cubes In Space program and won 2 spots for experiments on the NASA sounding rocket and 1 spot for an experiment on the high altitude balloon. Unfortunately due to COVID19 both launches were cancelled. All experiments were carried over to 2021. Bad luck hit again in June 2021, the package containing all of the experiments to be flown on the NASA sounding rocket was lost and not found until weeks after the launch date. Cubes In Space will hold on to the experiments for launch in 2022. The high altitude balloon did launch in August 2021 attached to NASA’s Salter Test Flight, Julie was excited to see the balloon fly!</image:title>

<image:title>Allie Weber - Allie Weber, 14, lives in South Dakota. Allie was a MythBuster on the Discovery Science Channel show, MythBusters Jr. hosted by Adam Savage. Allie was cast on the show because she is known as a maker, inventor, and builder. Allie produces and hosts her own YouTube channel “Tech-nic-Allie Speaking” where she builds amazing things, shows her inventions, and gives reviews of tech-toys. Her YouTube show seeks to entertain, help kids get into STEAM, and to show how to build your own dreams.</image:title>

<image:title>Allie Weber - At the young age of four Allie started to make things, and she is still going strong as a maker, builder, and inventor. When she was six years old she created a robot out of recycled items at her home. Allie entered her school science fair with Robie The Robot and won! From this she became the inspiration for Robot Girl Lottie Doll and her robot, Busy Lizzie. The Robot Girl Lottie Doll and Busy Lizzie were released to market in 2014.</image:title>

Her hard work paid off as she was on of the Top Ten Finalists! In 2017 Allie’s YouTube channel and social media following, and her work encouraging others in the world of STEM began to grow and her work and awards caught the eye of Teen Vogue who decided to name Allie to Teen Vogue's 21 Under 21 list class of 2017! Allie has spoken on a panel at the Teen Vogue Summit, was a featured speaker at World Maker Faire in 2017, and presented and hosted workshops with Digi-Key Electronics at Bay Area Maker Faire 2018.</image:title>

She wants to be a physician, scientist and an astronaut. Her focus is on shining a light on inclusion and diversity in STEM through advocacy and philanthropy work. Taylor’s service and advocacy work continues to have an incredible trajectory that began when she was nine and attended Space Camp in Alabama. Her first fundraiser lead to her own book drive Taylor’s Take Flight with a Book that has collected and donated over 10,000 books within and outside of the US. Since then Taylor has sponsored several full scholarships to send girls to STEM and empowerment camps across the US.</image:title>

<image:title>Jordan Reeves - Jordan Reeves, 15, is a changemaker, designer, inventor and author who is on a mission to raise awareness and drive action in support of young people with physical disabilities around the world. Jordan was born with a left arm that stopped growing just before the elbow. She is not alone. There are a little more than 2,000 kids born each year in the U.S. with a limb difference. When Jordan was born, her parents didn’t know about limb differences. But the story in the family is, when she arrived in the world her dad said that she was born “just right” because she was just right the way she is and she’s just right-handed. The phrase stuck.</image:title>

<image:title>Jordan Reeves - While still in elementary school, Jordan’s experiences turned into the perfect storm when she was invited to create a superhero persona and build something fun to add to her arm at a workshop for kids with limb differences. Jordan decided she wanted to be “Glitter Girl” and came up with a glitter-shooting prosthetic concept. As she worked with a design partner to create new and better iterations on the idea she named “Project Unicorn,” Jordan’s work caught the attention of many news outlets including Fast Company and Popular Science. Jordan had opportunities to present her invention to Maker Faire events, schools, scout meetings, and even received a Disney Parks Dream Big Princess Innovation Award. The interest in her Project Unicorn work grew even bigger after getting the chance to show off her design to the Shark Tank investors during an episode of The Rachael Ray Show in 2017. Around the same time, Jordan noticed that American Girl doll had been creating wheelchairs and crutches, dolls without hair and insulin kits to support kids with disabilities. It confirmed what Jordan already knew, that kids want to see themselves in their toys. She thought if they can provide those types of accessories why shouldn’t they offer dolls with limb differences too?</image:title>

<image:title>Jordan Reeves - Given her design insight, Jordan has had opportunities to consult with major brands, speaking at the National AIGA Design conference and the Strategic Design Conference at Parsons Design School. She also had the opportunity to consult with Mattel on the creation of its first doll with a limb difference. Mattel honored her with a one-of-a-kind doll that looks just like Jordan! In the Summer of 2019, Jordan and her mom released their first book, Born Just Right, for teens through Simon and Schuster’s Aladdin and Jeter Publishing imprints. The book is a memoir about Jordan’s life, experiences and lessons learned from growing up with a disability. She wanted to write a book to encourage more open discussions about disability. That same summer, Jordan and three other young people launched a youth design consultancy, Make Just Right, to make sure other alumni of the BOOST workshops can give input to companies and organizations in need of design perspectives and input.</image:title>

<image:title>Ivanna Hernandez - With the Astronomy Group, Apolo participated in several promotional and informational events of the MONOCUBE tour, in which, on a stage, she had to explain in front of an audience of more than 300 high school students, what her team learned when launching an experiment in space, and how did they analyze the results after the flight. Ivanna has also done introductory training in software programming, sensors, and the construction of robots with the Robotic Foundation of the Caribbean (picture 20). There she built a car with which she competed along with other children, doing races and a football competition with the robots. In October 2017 she traveled to the city of Bucaramanga to attend the first international meeting of scientific disseminators organized by the Industrial University of Santander (UIS), where she was able to personally meet national disseminators such as Santiago Vargas who has a PhD in Astrophysics, international scientist Luis Núñez from Venezaela who is the director of the Halley research group of the UIS university, and Javier Santaolalla from Spain who is a doctor in particle physics and a famous scientific youtuber. On this occasion, she had the opportunity to personally interview Javier Santaolalla for the YouTube channel of her school, and he also gave her his autograph. Ivanna had the opportunity to meet Javier Santaolalla more recently on her 15th birthday (August 7th), where Javier was the guest of honor at a formal lunch to celebrate.</image:title>

<image:title>Ivanna Hernandez - She did internships with a research group at Magdalena University, where she learned how to search and collect tardigrades in their natural habitat and the processing of these samples in the laboratory. Later, Ivanna also had the opportunity to learn physics at the university. In 2017 she participated in the Cubes in Space contest being part of the first group of Colombians to send experiments to space. This contest consists of developing an experiment that is sent to space in a suborbital flight in a NASA sounding rocket. Prior to the trip to Nasa Wallops, Ivanna was interviewed the television program Hoy es el día of the regional channel of the Colombian Caribbean coast, Telecaribe, where she talked about the development of the experiments that she was going to send and the trip that she was going to take. She traveled in June 2017 to NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Wallops Flight Facility where she could see the launch of the experiments designed by the Apolo team, of which she is part. She gave a presentation to a group of 175 people that included personnel of NASA, representatives of the aerospace industry, parents and other students from 5 other countries.</image:title>

With this opportunity, she learned about piloting military aircraft, the role of each of the officers and the strategies they apply to successfully carry out different types of offshore flight missions. Teamwork, mathematical calculations, and effective communication were fundamental during this experience. She had the opportunity to get on the flight simulator and feel the excitement and adrenaline as she took the controls of the plane which tilts, vibrates, and shakes to give the feeling and the illusion of being in a plane in flight. During her stay in the NAS, she was able to be in the front row in the practice of the "Blue Angels" and see how the experienced pilots maneuver F-18 Hornet planes and take them to the limit while exhibiting precision flights of the best quality, Ivanna says that "Feeling the roar of aircraft engines so close generates an indescribable emotion." She also received a tour of the National Museum of Naval Aviation where she could see hundreds of completely restored and</image:title>

This acknowledgement was all it took for her to learn more about Artificial Intelligence, and soon after, it was announced, through her AI entry, at just 14 years old that she was a winner of the coveted UK SPACE AGENCY SatelLife Competition. From which, she was awarded a cash prize and an audience with the UK space industry dragons in a high-profile event. Media coverage of her achievements ensued, resulting with her been offered a place still at 14, on the E4F (Entrepreneurs for the Future) Incubator programme in Birmingham. Thus, making her the youngest ever start-up/entrepreneur on the Innovation Birmingham campus. Through this opportunity and with mentorship, Kari noticed a gap in technical expertise</image:title>

<image:title>Hannah Herbst - Hannah Herbst has a passion for learning, solving problems, and helping others. She is currently fully dual enrolled at Florida Atlantic University (credit equivalent of a college junior) while being a senior in high school. She is pursuing her B.S. in Management Information Technology. Hannah created an ocean energy probe prototype that seeks to offer a stable power source to developing countries by using untapped energy from ocean currents. This innovation was inspired by Hannah's desire to help her nine-year-old pen-pal living in Sub-Saharan Africa, where many people live in energy poverty with sporadic or no access to electricity. In addition, Hannah has explored early identification methods for hazardous airborne chemicals in collaboration with I-SENSE at Florida Atlantic University, and is currently studying the properties of shark skin for medical applications at the Florida Atlantic Biomechanics (FAB) Lab.</image:title>

<image:title>Sahda Haroon - With a goal to leave her signature on the canvas of the Earth, Sahda Haroon has been dreaming of being an astronaut ever since the third grade. A passion for solving problems and a thirst to know how things work drives this 16 year old to aim higher than the clouds. From being an academic to stepping out of the comfort zone, Sahda has a history of doing things out of the prescription of her society. With all the talk about going to Mars, having her eyes on the red world and doing everything necessary to get there from a young age gets her the keys to unlocking many opportunities in the region. With a new fast growing space program, the personnel at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space</image:title>

Sahda is also an active member of The Mars Generation (TMG), which is a nonprofit founded on the base to spread STEAM awareness. Joining the organization as a founding member and later doing work as a Student Space Ambassador (SSA) made Sahda to go forward and open the Scholars Astronaut club at her former school to provide a foundation for young passionate dreamers and the StarCeylors in Srilanka to inspire the next generation of aspiring STEAM enthusiasts and getting together a common base for all these people to potentially form a space agency in the region. <image:title>BiaSciLab - BiaSciLab has been into technology, making and hacking since she was in kindergarten, where her LED lit doll house took first place in the school science fair. For her fourth grade science project, she re-purposed electronics that were heading for the trash into useful objects - Portable speakers, LED flash lights and saved a laptop by installing a lightweight linux OS on it. In fifth grade she did research on oxalis stricta, performing a MS Media Modulation on the plant to determine it’s nutritional needs, a key first step in studying any plant. During this project, she realized the need to automate adding the liquid plant food, control the lights as well as take pictures. The following year, she developed the WaterBot to make hacking plants easier. This ‘plant control system’ allows the user to control how much plant food, water, heat and light a plant receives. It also takes time lapse photos to help scientists study the plant as it grows. At DEF CON 26 she did a talk on this device at the BioHacking Village.</image:title>

<image:title>Laalitya Acharya - From a young age Laalitya has always been fascinated by the concept of "making a mark on the world", whether that was through mentorship, her own research or simply advocating on behalf of herself and others - she truly believes in the power of a single person to change the world. Now as a student researcher and activist at Columbia University, she wants to work on integrating STEM and policy together to make an impact. With a biomedical engineering major and a minor in political science, she is working with both her hometown, as well as the local NYC area to help integrate these two seemingly unrelated (but in reality quite related) fields. She has interned for the US Congress Congressional Program and for Majority Leader Senator Schumer where she is already working on this goal!</image:title>

<image:title>Elijah Horland - Somewhere in 2017, Allie Weber started to comment on my posts here and there, and one day mentioned me after a road accident that led to the untimely death of some butterflies. Over time we started to comment on each other more, and I started to become aware of her many other friends. Jordan, Taylor, Allie and the others started to respond to my struggle for recognition at school. They offered validation and made me feel seen and heard. Suddenly I went from being alone in a crowd of a million kids, to knowing I was never really alone at all.</image:title>

<image:title>Elijah Horland - Hi. I’m Elijah. I’m a Maker and I make fun, loud, obnoxious videos. Welcome to my STEAM Squad page. Why am I in this club, with some of the most inspirational “kids” on the planet? I’m as baffled as you most of the time. Really. I’m not a “great grades” kid, my outreach has been limited mostly to corn in unusual places, and my inventions aren’t world changing. I’m better known for accidents than activism. So, why me, here? It’s not a long story, I’ll try to explain.</image:title>

<image:title>Elijah Horland - That’s the start of how I wound up here. Not “Because MythBusters.” MythBusters was one part of the first “full story” of my life as a part of the Squad. Not because I did something really cool, or that it was on TV but because that was the day it all came full circle. That was the first day I knew that I’d inspired others. Not theoretical “others” but actual people with actual names who I actually got to meet, just like I’d met the Squad and just like they’d inspired me.</image:title>

<image:title>Elijah Horland - After all this time, it was still sitting there, a pile of parts, papers, ideas and research. It was late April, 2019 and I was still not listed here on this site, not a member of the STEAM Squad yet, and to be honest I hadn’t earned it yet. Three weeks. That’s all the newly formed “OK Do” company had before Maker Faire San-Francisco 2019, and that’s all the time I had to complete a big Faire-worthy project. That’s all the time I needed. It was enough time to build a “walk around” prototype and take basic pictures and atmospheric readings from my house to my favorite pizza place. It was enough time to make a quick design, seat the batteries, paint a cooler, order the parts and launch, twice.</image:title>

<image:title>Elijah Horland - In 2016 I attended my first Maker Faire, the one in New York City in the fall. It was my first year in middle school, and I was part of the all-volunteer “Street Team” to raise awareness of the event I met makers from all over the world, and after talking with a few of them, decided to start talking to the “maker community” on Twitter to stay in touch. About the same time, my work as a “maker” got the attention of magazines, blogs, and other makers, partially for their merit and entertainment value, but also because of the pushback I got from an unusual place, and from the support that got me through.</image:title>
